Bio

Ms. Sloan is an accomplished entrepreneur.

Her career includes work in computers, fashion, manufacturing, philanthropy and medicine. In 2021, she began a new career in publishing.

Hiking, mountain biking, road racing and horseback riding are some of her pursuits.

With a BA in Economics and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management, Ms. Sloan remains a critical thinker and a student of world history through the books she reads, writes and publishes.

In addition, she is a world traveler with a special interest in Central and Eastern Europe and The Baltic States. In the US, she has crossed the country multiple times N,S,E, and W. She speaks three languages.

A proven winner in road racing, running, and equestrian sports, Ms. Sloan’s notable athletics began in the 70’s as one of the first young women in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ever to compete in the two mile in high school track.

After work in Boston and New York City, Ms. Sloan, lived and worked in Central and Eastern Europe for 17 years where she experienced the fall of Communism while building a very successful manufacturing business. She was present for the history making ascension of Poland into NATO, taking part in the celebration at the home of the U.S. Consul General in Kraków, Poland.

Her later ten years of work in the region brought her to the outlying areas of Georgia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Ukraine and Romania, where she worked closely with local doctors to provide critically needed pediatric equipment to their hospitals.

Her newest venture as of 2021, Pondera Publishing, has a successful award-winning trilogy of Young Adult fantasy horse books in the hands of thousands of readers around the world. She is committed to library donations to qualified school and public libraries, most recently to the main library of Perm in the Ural Mountains of Russia and to a school library in Bakhshipul, Pakistan. Her newest book for children launches Fall 2024.

Ms. Sloan plants trees, bushes and flowers every year on her own property and enjoys sharing cuttings and plants from her garden with family and friends. Her azalea and rhododendron garden has been toured by garden clubs. She is a passionate beekeeper.

Of Polish, Russian, Hungarian and Danish descent, Ms. Sloan lives in Central PA with her husband, cattle dog and three horses.
